Privacy Policy

Nature ("we," "our," or "the app") is a digital wellness application that helps you understand and manage your screen time. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Data We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address, used for authentication and account recovery.
- Name (optional), used for personalization within the app.
- User ID, a unique identifier assigned by our authentication provider.
Screen Time Data (Aggregated)
Nature uses Apple's Screen Time APIs (FamilyControls, DeviceActivity) to help you track your usage. We collect aggregated data including:
- Total daily screen time in minutes
- Number of device pickups
- Time spent in distraction-prone vs. productive app categories
- Focus session duration and completion
Important: we do NOT collect a list of specific apps you use. Raw app-level usage data stays on your device within Apple's sandboxed extensions. Only aggregated category-level summaries are synced to our servers.
Subscription Information
If you subscribe to Nature Premium, our payment processor (RevenueCat) handles the transaction. We receive:
- Subscription status (active, trial, expired)
- Plan type (monthly or annual)
- Trial start and end dates
We do NOT receive or store your payment method, credit card number, or Apple ID password.
Onboarding Preferences
During onboarding, you may share preferences such as age range, motivation, daily goals, and focus style. These personalize your experience.
2. How We Use Your Data
- App functionality, calculate your Nature Score, track streaks, generate weekly insights, personalize blocking profiles.
- AI-generated insights, we use aggregated, anonymized usage patterns to generate weekly reflections. No individual app names are sent to AI providers.
- Subscription management, verify subscription status and manage trials.
3. Data Storage and Security
Your Nature data lives on your device (in SwiftData) and is synced privately to your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. Nature's team never has access to it. Authentication uses Sign in with Apple; we never see your password and only receive a stable identifier and, if you choose to share it, your email.
Device-local data (blocking profiles, FamilyActivitySelection tokens) is stored in your device's app group container and is not accessible to other apps.

5. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Daily scores are stored indefinitely to power trend analysis. Weekly reports are retained for 12 months.
6. Your Rights
- Access, view all your data within the app (Insights, Settings).
- Deletion, request full account deletion by emailing us. We will delete all server-side data within 30 days.
- Export, contact us to request an export of your data.
- Opt-out, disable screen time tracking by revoking FamilyControls permission in iOS Settings.
7. Children's Privacy
Nature is designed for individual use by users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
8. Tracking and Advertising
Nature does not track you across other apps or websites. We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA). We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not display advertisements.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or via email.
